Learn More About the 2012 HVAC Tax Credits (Northern Virginia)
Federal and state HVAC tax credits are designed to be a financial incentive for homeowners, and sometimes business owners, to upgrade to a new, more efficient air conditioner or heating system. In 2012, there were both federal and state tax credits available to Northern Virginia residents. Learn more about 2012 HVAC tax credits to see if you can take advantage of one of these programs.
State HVAC Tax Credits
2012 marks the end of the Virginia Home Efficiency Program, as well as the Geothermal Heat Pump Program. The Home Efficiency program closed to new applicants recently, on February 17th, 2012. If you applied and were approved, you would have had just thirty days to have your project completed by an air conditioning repair and installation company. The Geothermal Heat Pump Program closed on December 31st, 2011.
Although these programs are now closed, this does not mean more programs will not open up in the future. Tax credit programs are always changing. The state of Virginia’s website or the air conditioner experts at Brennan’s Heating and Air Conditioning can provide you with up to date state tax credit information, so you can save as much as possible when you decide to have a new system installed by one of our air conditioning repair and installation technicians.
Federal HVAC Tax Credits
New federal tax credits have opened up for 2012, and these programs are available through the end of 2016. 2012 tax credits offer incentives for homeowners who upgrade to new, efficient air conditioner and heat systems that operate using renewable energy sources. Qualifying systems include: Geothermal heat pumps, Solar wind turbines, Solar energy systems, and Fuel Cells.
This new federal tax credit is especially valuable since these systems typically come with a higher price tag then traditional heating and air conditioner systems. A federal tax credit can make upgrading to a new, very efficient system more affordable. Once your new system is installed by a professional air conditioning repair and installation contractor, you will receive up to 30% of the cost of your new system back in the form of a federal tax credit, and you will enjoy much lower heating and cooling bills.
The professional air conditioning repair and installation experts at Brennan’s Heating and Air Conditioning can help you decide if one of these new systems is right for your Northern Virginia home, find one that matches your needs and your budget, and provide you with the proper paperwork as you apply for any available tax credits.
